Are you using a translator program? Because they are not usually very reliable, except for individual words. A good example is if you use Google Translate, one of the most common, and type in "How old are you?" in English, then translate into Spanish. It will display the literal translation, "Que viejo es usted?", whereas the translation of the same meaning is "Cuantos años tiene?".

EDIT: Just checked, they upgraded it so it now says "Cuantos años tiene?".
