Recently I've become very interested in the field of Mathematics. I will participate in several math competitions this year including the AMC 8, and AMC 10 as well as the MATHCOUNTS local competition for schools.
What math do you do in school (and what grade are you in)?
Do you participate in any competitions?

I don't do competitions. I have a few pages of trig left, and I'm doing pre-calc, and I'm in 11th grade.

No, but I did the spelling and geography bee last year.
Actually, anyone that doesn't fall asleep in my pre-alg class is instantaneously flagged down as...

What kind of Algebra 2 does your school offer? I've heard the term tossed around a lot, and it means different things in different contexts.

AMC-10? Wow, you must be good. I did that last year and I got the highest score at my high school, but of course I am in 10th grade

Oh and I did Mathcounts/Math team for a while but I owe the coach $15 for the t-shirt so I'm avoiding him at all costs this year.

I'm in sixth grade, and I'm taking pre-algebra
I really dislike math, so I'm not doing any clubs for it this year. But I was on my elementary school's math team (Which I disliked also)

I don't know exactly what new stuff we're going to be getting into, because all we've done so far are review things and proofs. Right now we're doing Linear Models.

Heh . . . not that good, I take it but rarely do well
Congratulations on getting the highest score though
You should consider taking the AMC 12 this year!

I remember disliking pre-algebra a lot, but being in my school's math club helped make up for the class.

I'll just say that I am in the honors class for 2 grades ahead of me, which is pretty much 3 grades advanced in math... I also got 24/25 total on my 5th grade Math Olympiad team (IDK if anyone's heard of it...). I woulda won the bronze medallion if I had gotten the easiest problem on the last test RIGHT: Addition
.

Quite impressive! What math are you currently taking now? Have you competed in any competitions recently?

I got a bronze medal out of that.
Except I didn't score that good. Maybe I got a 20-21 or something, I don't remember.
