Scratch Won't Open

I was messing around in the World Menu in Scratch, when suddenly the entire Scratch window went grey. So I closed it and found that whatever I did Scratch wouldn't open. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and when it had finished reinstalling, I ticked the "Open Scratch" box and clicked OK. It opened Scratch, so I thought "all is well." But when I closed it and tried to open it again, the same thing happened. So I've had to resort to installing it and clicking on that box, and then just always keeping Scratch open.

I can't remember what I was doing when the screen went grey, it may have been something to do with MVC projects but I can't remember...

Can anyone help? Please...  sad

Re: Scratch Won't Open

Try reopening Scratch the way you have been doing it, then shift click the R and save the image for end user, maybe?  hmm

No, I tried all the usual stuff... Save image for end user, VM preferences, .NET settings, reinstalling... Nothing's working...  sad

Have you tried restarting the computer?  hmm

EDIT: Or maybe uninstalling (move all project files to a safe place, e.g. the desktop), then redownloading and reinstalling?

How do I fix that? Can I fix that?

Re: Scratch Won't Open

I managed to recreate the bug  big_smile  And managed to work out a temporary fix, although my method requires a USB storage device  hmm  Not the most practical, but it works even without an admin account (on Windows 7 Home Premium, at least). Here's how I fixed it:

Go to the "Program Files" folder of your computer, or download Scratch directly onto the USB device. Then, copy the files from the USB onto the desktop (or make a new folder on the desktop, then put the files in it, if you want to keep it tidy). Try opening the Scratch program from the desktop/new folder, and it should work. For the next piece, you might like to unpin the old, broken version from the taskbar, and pin the new one on instead (if you want to). You can also delete the broken version from the start menu, if it appears there.

Thanks for the help...  smile  But it's already fixed, I'll keep that in mind if it happens again.

Yeah, but then the topic moved far down, and it already had quite a few replies, so I thought that even if I bumped it people might ignore it. So I just deleted it and posted it again...

Re: Scratch Won't Open

Well, Macroes AntiPrVi can help.
I will show the level of this error/threat.

Level: 60%, it may be caused by a virus that Scratch decided to create on you.
