THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE 2012 TOPICS WHERE WE SAY "OH NO ITS THE END OF THE WORLD!" SO SERIOUSLY, DON'T THINK IT IS. IT'S JUST A DISCUSSION ABOUT A NEW BELIEF, A NEW FACT.
This discussion is based off of fact and belief, merged together
FACT: In 2012, a wormhole will appear in our Solar System as it does every thousands of years at random.
BELIEF: The world (Note the 'world', that doesn't mean humanity)is going to end at 2012.
BELIEF: Through the wormhole an intelligent species of lifeforms, thousands of years ahead of us in technology and intelligence, will emerge with their spaceships which use either wormhole warp technology to travel across the quadrant, maybe even the galaxy, or even somehow the universe. They will detect our satellite and radio signals, find our seriously slow moving probes, and come to our planet in the matter of time from a few minutes to an hour from the edge of space where the wormhole first opened. Then, this is where the discussion shows up, and where it somewhat ties to the whole ITS THE END OF THE WORLD getup which personally I think is untrue. Will they either annihilate us, ignore us and leave, begin a peaceful era with us, or do so and ALSO uplift us to their technology level?
That's the discussion, so feel free to discuss your ideas. If you think this is all baloney, if you believe on of the theories, or if you even don't think the fact is true (even though I assure you, it is), or if you have another theory.

2012 is just the end of some calander. That I can't remember it's name.
This is what we have to worry about.
2036
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
2036 (MMXXXVI) will be a leap year starting on Tuesday of the Gregorian calendar.
Predicted events
* April – A METI message Cosmic Call 2 sent from the 70-meter Eupatoria Planetary Radar arrives at its destination, Hip 4872 star.
* April 13 – close approach to Earth by asteroid 99942 Apophis. The 20-million-ton object has a 1 in 250,000 chance of hitting Earth on Easter Sunday.[1]
* The U.S. military's contract with the United Kingdom to use Diego Garcia as a military base would end, if the contract were extended in 2016.
Also
The asteroid's orbit dynamics are further clouded by some uncertainty on the effects of Earth's gravity on Apophis when it passes no closer than 18,300 miles from the planet in 2029, leaving astronomers unable to create more accurate estimates of the asteroid's trajectory in 2036.
Some other odds
1 in 9,366,819 chance of winning the lottery.
You have about a 1 in 2,000,000 chance of being struck by lightning.
A pregnant woman has a 1 in 705,000 chance of giving birth to quadruplets.
Someone eating an oyster has a 1 in 12,000 chance of finding a pearl inside of it.
The odds of the asteroid hitting it better than winning lottery, being struck by lightning and giving birth to quadruplets.

The mayan calender
Offline
Yes, I read somewhere that the Mayan calender wasn't like ours, and the years could be 50 years or more off. So, the end of THE CALENDER cound be in another 50 or so years, 2012, or, possibly, already happened. 2012 is a big phony.

Here are some facts...
The alander ends on that date (duh)
We are suppost to have a close incounter with an astroid that will pass underneath or comunication satililites posible on 2012, but highly unlikly
Another problem is our sun is reaching its end of its cycle when its rays are the strongest... A solor Corona Mass Ejection (google it) whick travels at millions of milleels per hour could hit us and opver loadd all of our elictricy circits... starvaton would ensue
Another thereore, pole shift... our poles might shift causing drastic werather changes... the hottest point on Earth would be the south pole....
My take on this is the most likly to a solor corona mass ejection, at best we would have 24 hours to perpare and earths magnetic field is not strong enough to handle such large abounts of intersteller mediem and gases...
Yes i dint google anyof this i knew it all by heart...

The 2012 astroid is fake. It is actually the 2036 one I was talking about. Global Warming (AKA "Climate change" The new proper name) Is due to sun spots. There is a very strong relationship between temperature and sun spots. Sun has a natural cycle of these spots. There is nothing to worry about.
Which reminds me of something I thought up of.
Who wants to be a Dollarair.
Question 1. For 1 cent. What is the 3rd planet from the sun?
A. Mars
B. Earth
C. Jupitar
D. Venus
Time is ticking.
di do de do.
Player; "Hmm. I don't think it's Jupitar or Venus...
I'm tossing up between Mars and Earth..."
Host; "Hurry, make up your mind"
...
Player; "Lock in B, Earth"
Host; " Earth is locked in.... ...That is correct!"
[Person walks into room and wispers into hosts ear]
Host; " Sorry about that Mars is the correct answer. Mercury was engulfed and distroyed by the sun just moments before you locked in the answer and Earth is now the second from the sun for the next few minutes. Guess you'll be leaving here with nothing."
Host; "Where is everyone?"

I really don't give a hoot about anything that will happen in 2012 other than the next presidential election, and me turning 15. I don't believe in Aztec teachings. Trust me, the world will not end. Just lock your doors , board your windows, and break out a shotgun when the hippies show up on your doorstep.

That is not a fact. That is a prediction.

thanks for clearing that up.

The world isn't ending any time soon. Wormholes and black holes don't actually suck things in, they are just there. I don't think wormholes even exist.
I do not believe any other statements about the end of the world, no matter how logical they seem, my reason of so isn't permitted to be shared, since it regards my religous belief.
Thank you.

No - It's our calender that's 50 years or more off the mayan Is actually more accurate than ours

let me ask you this: Whats the point in fretting about it? What were you gonna do if the world was going to end? No matter what you would die.

We are all going to die anyway, as he said, so there is no reason to be scared. I'm not scared to die, even though 2012 endings probably won't happen.
But this is just my opinion.

I'm happy to see when people see from a similar view of mine!
