Gyandomorphus Chickens?

I was looking at some magazines at the library when something caught my eye, a gyandomorphus chicken. What that is is a chicken that is half male, half female. Apparently this happened to about 1 in 10,000 chickens. o.o Have you ever heard of this before? Tell me so.  big_smile

Re: Gyandomorphus Chickens?

Let me check... I'll search for it in my collection of unusual pets. I classify them by traits.

Mutant, no. Lethal, no. Strength , no. Speed, no. Poison, no. Acid, no. Extinct, no. 10 genders, no. Wait... 9 genders, 8,7,6,5,4,3, aha! here's the double gender one! Now... octopuses, no, crocodiles, no. Aliens, no. Dinosaurs,no. Chickens-ah, here it is!

I'd assume they taste like regular chickens when cooked. A chicken is still a chicken, regardless of its gender(s).

Just asked my dad about this since he used to own chickens back in the Philippines. Apparently, he has seen one and he says they physically look more like female hens on the outside, but they have a tendency to act and fight like male roosters.

And my assumption was right - he also says they taste like normal chickens when cooked.

Why would it matter what gender of animal you eat? It would still be the same no matter what gender it is.

What difference would it make is I'm trying to say.

That is potentially offensive

But I don't really think the fact that the animal is genderless/multi-gendered/ whatever it's called should effect whether or not you want to eat it. Its kind of mean to judge it like that, I mean it didn't choose to be multi-gendered, and if it tastes normally it doesn't matter

Well, there is some validity to oppose eating multi-gendered animals. Remember the adage "you are what you eat"? Multi-gender can be considered a genetic defect, and, some people are rather a bit wary of eating meat from an animal having an otherwise iffy genetic history.
