Variables not working.

In my script, I put <if>    (variable)     <(  <=>  )> then do (script). Any suggestions on what's going on?

Does the variable ever actually equal what's in the other half of the equals block?

Yes. One sprite is supposed to change the variable by 1 when the right arrow is pressed. It does, but nothing does anything.
