Something I'm confused about and wanting to have your opinion on.
Stay respectful, kiddies (I shall make an effort to, as well).
So let's bring up Mindless Self Indulgence. On a 2000 album, they did a protest against/parody of music censorship, by replacing all the vowels on the track listing with asterisks, even on the words that aren't offensive. And yet, they made a "clean" version for at least one of their albums. Does that mean that they support censorship.
Eminem has also said some anti-censorship comments in interviews. Yet he made a censored version of all his albums, and will most likely do so in the future.
Why are these anti-censorship musicians censoring their records? Is that contradicting their anti-censorship comments.
I'm not sure about this, so I want your opinion. Feel free to argue or criticize, but do so constructively.

This makes a wonderful topic for it, and you'll get a better discussion about censorship in Social Studies class rather than Scratch
My Social Studies class only talks about boring stuff.
Anyway, this probably isn't the best place, but since I'm under 13, other sites I can register for are moderately rare.

its not censoring freedom of speech, it's just censoring any obscene language, they're still allowed to talk about what they want, i think that's the difference.
it could also be their record labels insisisting on it.

Or they may not want to risk offending their listeners.

Actually, songs ARE censored for non-language content, or at least sometimes.

Maybe because they want more money, so they're reaching out to all audiences
Money is probably their main target, not the wellfare of others

Yeah.
No matter how much they're against censoring, if they can censor an album to make it appeal to an even wider audience, then they'll do it. Money isn't necessarily their main goal, but if they can make more while achieving their main goal (Which probably isn't to rid the world of censoring) then they'll go with it. Or, if you wanted to lie to yourself to keep a high opinion on the artist, just say his money-wanting manager made him do it
And it isn't like they made the album to swear. If they can censor their songs and still get it's meaning out to the listener, then its fine.

Short answer: Censorship = A wider audience can listen to your music = more money ='nuff said

If only more people made clean versions that made sense.
For example this is just awful.
"Like a you're a re- (trails off)"
"You stupid mother-(annoyed grunt)"
