Scratch forums, and what not to say!

Hello scratch members, young and old, male and female, here is what not to say on the forums. If you know this already, and your just looking for a short and sweet FAQ, than scroll to the bottom of my post, which is listed after my forum explanation.

Thanks!

WHAT NOT TO SAY

1.) spam.

Spam is considered anything useless. There are three types of spam. Random spam, advertisements, and annoying spam. Random spam is anything just randomly posted out of no where like "I LIKE MONKEYS" in a post about peoples favorite flavors of cake. The worst, is probably advertising. Advertise in the show and tell section, in your own post. Don't go to other people's posts and talk about how great or exciting your projects are. It's wrong and you will get reported. The last kind of spam is annoying spam. This is the repeat of something already cleared up on purpose, or rudely taking up the forums selfishly. This is like yelling at people for doing something you don't agree with over and over, and just repeating things over and over.

2.) Religion.

We all know some people are atheist, Christian, Jewish, Pegan, Muslim, and anything I might've missed, but it's not required to discuss. You may give your religion as a reason for doing something, but you can't discuss, make topics or push your beliefs in others' faces. People have their own beliefs. If you discuss religion, than people will disagree, argue and the topic will be closed. No one wants their topic closed due to another's quarreling!

3.) Flaming.

If you think something is wrong, you may correct someone, but do so politely! If you get angry at someone, they get angry at you, and if their angry at you, you both argue! Arguing and debate are two completely different things. Debating is usual friendly, and is done on things that barely affect us as scratchers. Arguing is done between two who are angry, and wish to be right. If two argue, it can get ugly, and topics get closed. Worse than getting a topic closed, it can emotionally hurt people, and that would dirty your conscience. If kids are exposed to things like this, they can end up acting like this. Sorry to admit this, but every criminal was once a kid.  hmm

4.) Swearing

Swearing is a huge NO! Why? Swearing means something, and those somethings aren't child apropriate. Most people on scratch are kids, and shouldn't be exposed to bad language. Bad language leads kids to repeat such things. If such things are repeated, they can spread it, causing more and more problems on scratch.

5.) Certain links.

You want to show your friend a picture, or screenshot of something over scratch? That's fine. Want to show your friend something on youtube? That's NOT alright. If there is something in the comments or video, it can be harmful to one's personality. If you're going to post anything, than check everything to make sure it's child friendly. If the comments are not good, than use quietube.

6.) Anything adulted.

If anything horribly violent, sexual or gory is posted, it will be reported, and can scar some children. If any clear references are made, you can be banned, and get topics closed. This is probably one of the worst things that can be done on scratch. Some violent things are allowed, just don't go all out. Hense i said horribly violent.

7.) Text based games.

TBGs do not belong here, but in their own forums here

8.) The FAQs

Thank you for your patience in reading this. If you were just looking for an FAQ, you found the place.

Q: Can I swear if i leave a warning?
A: No, any bad language can still be looked at even if theres a warning

Q: Can i spam if it's useful, such as ideas for the future?
A: Consructive critisism is O.K., but if its spammed about, it's not ok.

Q: Can i post knives and blood as long as it's kept to a minimum?
A: I do believe it's ok, as long it's kept under controll, and you can't go crazy with it.

Q: Where can i help set up request shops without spamming?
A: Set up a topic in the requests forum

Thank you, and scratch on!

One of the solutions is to use quietube. You may want to include this.

Wait, does [removed by Moderator - substituting the "@" for "a" in a curse word still counts as a curse word] count as a swear?

Re: Scratch forums, and what not to say!

I remembered that Paddle2See said so before...

EDIT: I've found it.

Paddle2See wrote:

I love that video!  Such intensity...

But please, when you post Youtube links, put this in front of the URL address:

http://quietube.com/v.php/

it presents the video without the comments, which are often inappropriate for Scratch.
