But something would have to contain the universe, like the universe contains the galaxy, the galaxy contains the solar system, the solar system contains the planets, the planets contain the atmosphere, the atmosphere contains the earth (soil and water and other stuff like that).

But by definition the universe is literally everything. It is not contained because it is all.

Sometimes I do. There are times where I would think of different things that could happen out there in space, such as thinking about what would happen to an asteroid if it came into contact with Jupiter.

Sometimes I wonder if there is possibly a planet in a different galaxy, one far more advanced than us.
Also, @Kiley and Scratchthat: I had that same argument once, I had to get a teacher to finish it for me.
