Re: Epic Laptop Win

2 i3 processors? That makes no sense. The i3 is the budget model. It would make more sense to put in an i5 than 2 i3.

I believe that Intel's Hyperthreading technology has tricked you. Hyperthreading makes each processor core have two threads (data lines) instead of 1. So a HT-capable quad-core processor has 8 threads. Most programs use the number of threads to count the cores, but they believe 1 thread=1 core, so the program detects 8 cores. No computer (except servers) yet supports more than 4 cores per processor, so your computer believes you have 2 quad processors, yet you only have one HT-capable i3 processor.

Did that possible TL;DR make sense?

Sorry for bursting your bubble.  sad

Re: Epic Laptop Win

This stuff will not make sense if you are not a computer geek/builder, especially what I wrote above.

Talking about what I wrote above, and Epic Laptop Wins, I have found this, which proves I was partially wrong about laptops only supporting 4 cores per processor. Partially because it is based on desktop parts. Also, this is an Epic Win!

MALIBAL Nine x7200 (based on an Intel hex-core i7)

(Yes, HEX-core. SIX.  big_smile ) This probably still makes no sense to you if you aren't a computer geek/builder.
