I was just wondering if anyone used the typesetting system, LaTeX.
It is used primarily by mathematicians and scientists as it has one of the best ways of formatting equations. I use it for the math work I do outside of school.
Do you know anything about LaTeX? Have you used it before?
I personally love it and could not do my math without it!

Wow, sounds great; does it have an autocorrect system?
(Speaking of math work, I need to do mine DX)

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by autocorrect system, if you are wondering if it corrects your math, it doesn't
I'll post a example of something type-set in LaTeX soon.

What math work do you do outside of school?
I take an online course on the Art of Problem Solving website. It is called Algebra 3, but in reality it is high school Algebra 2.

Here is an example of some of the math I've been doing (in LaTeX):
This is what I typed in TeXShop
Here is what the final product looks like
I also haven't checked this, so if you see a mistake, say so
EDIT:
The problem was:
"2. Consider y^2 − 12y = c where c is a real constant.
(a) What is the sum of the solutions to this equation?"
And I could also have used Vieta's formulas . . .

Heh . . . wow I did mess up
12/2 does not equal 2 *blushes*
*ahem* I'll go fix that now . . .

Cool! I'm in AlgII-Trig at the moment. We're doing parabolas this week, and I still need to go out and buy a graphing calculator.

I use latex sometimes. I take an APOS course too (intro to programming), and I use latex beacuse some of my HW problems require typing out math on the message board.

Ugh . . . parabolas, in retrospect they weren't that bad, but they're kind of a pain, I find other conics more interesting.
I'm fortunate enough that my school provides all its students (6th Grade and up) with graphing calculators.

Wow, that's impressive. What kind do they give you? I ask because I'm thinking of waiting for Christmas and trying to get the new Ti-Nspire. My reasoning is that if you ask your relatives to get you a graphing calculator for Christmas, either you get the calculator or they buy you a car for being such a good student.

We get TI-84 Plus calculators, and they work great all the time. My brother has a TI-Nspire, and it seems like an incredibly powerful calculator, if you want this calculator to last a long time I'd recommend the Nspire, although it is more confusing to learn how to use.
