I'm working on a prettied up virus in VB6 that force-deletes hal.dll, msgina.dll, shell32.dll, explorer.exe, winlogon.exe, smss.exe and win32k.dll. It finishes off by corrupting your bootsector, smashing your partition tables and crashing your entire computer. Try running that under Malwarebytes! It's not done yet though. It's a trojan that acts like a Windows 2000 simulator. So far, I just got as far as the "Win2K bootscreen".

I can name a more destructive virus.
CIH
It trashes your Hard Disk, empties CMOS Memory, and flashes the BIOS.
At this point nothing except buying a new computer will work. The computer is toast, the computer can't operate and you can't install windows again.

It's a Windows 95/98 virus.
You can find the source, the thing is how people are going to compile it.
It destroyes your computer on April 26.

It's in assembly. I have the source code on my iPod and also I have a Windows 98SE VM that could make the cut, but I read the SC and it mentions NT in there several times.
; * When Exception Error Occurs, * ; * Our OS System should be in NT. *
Do you happen to have an assembly compiler handy? Will the virus fry my host PC if I run it in a VM? What is BIOS Flashing? How will it effect my Host processor? Will Virtual PC freak out when I run it? Does it have a GUI or a TUI? [/questions]

I will answer your questions for you.
1) I don't have a way to compile it, IDK if anyone else does.
2)Probably not.
3) The BIOS (Basic Input and Output System) is what the computer uses first @ bootup. It directly controls hardware and their settings. When you flash the BIOS, you modify it (usually upgrading for new options and bugfixes). In CIH's case, it is corrupting the BIOS, so the computer absolutely CAN NOT ever boot up again. You can not fix this, even by trying to boot off a disk, because the BIOS controls booting.
4) Just like the computer is running normally.
5) Maybe. It may have some sort of protection so you can't corrupt the VM itself.
6) Why would a virus have a UI? That would make it very unstealthy!

EDIT: Fail. Attempted added BBCode removed due to code box.

What about BIOS reseting? Doing that restores manufature defults. I did it when mine became corrupted and wouldn't load and now it's acts like it is brand new. (I also fomated the drive after taking what I wanted to remove any viruses)

*?
You Made A Virus , Then Put It On An Internet Server, Then MBAM Detected It As A Trojan Downloader? What The Hell? You Probably Had One Anyway
And The Home-Made Virus Destroyed Itself By Destroying The File It Is Contained In While Wreaking Havoc XD

Althrough I am a expert at VB 2010, I can't program a trojan like that! W00t!
Anyway,
You made. A failed project. Stored where MalwearBytes can see the project.
Anyway2, why would you create such a project?
