I think the students that made this got extra credit at MIT or something. At least, I hope they did, 'cause they definitely deserve it.

There are different motivations. One of them is to do research to understand how to support learning through technology. The other one is to improve the world by giving people tools that allow them to create stuff (i.e. Projects) rather than just consume it (e.g. TV).
