Spam Filter Is Too Gullible

I love this feature. I think it's great. I also think it is to easy to fool. Here is an example of 2 messages I got (I deleted them cause I don't allow spam, but I'll try from memory):

"please look at my project. PS, sorry to spam."
"please look at my project. PS sorry to spam )"

See how easy that is to fool? 1 character difference. I even fool it when I would give updates on my critique group. I think it needs to be harder to fool. Not look for words, but phrases such as "please look at my project" or "sorry to spam". I like the wait time, I think you should keep that. But if it's these easy to trick, there is really no point!

Re: Spam Filter Is Too Gullible

On the other hand, it once rejected a comment I wrote saying "cool project!" or something like that, because I had written the same thing recently. It didn't even contain a link!

Re: Spam Filter Is Too Gullible

actually, i would make it so it only gets comments with links and that say "Please look at My Project" etc.

But did you say something like that recently? I got those 2 posts (above) in 5 minutes or so. And Alanprojects, if it's only a link, than what would stop someone from spamming? This anonymous person didn't post a link

Re: Spam Filter Is Too Gullible

Here is another example that happened a few seconds ago:

I type in "…" and I get the message
I type in "……" and don't get the message

See? Just 3 dots tricked it! Or 2 different characters (Alt+ wink

Re: Spam Filter Is Too Gullible

"cool project check out mine "random pixil generator" P.S sorry to spam -"
There it is again! One character! So, here is what they wrote:

cool project check out mine "random pixil generator" P.S sorry to spam -
cool project check out mine "random pixil generator" P.S sorry to spam.
cool project check out mine "random pixil generator" P.S sorry to spam )

Wow, so similar. And the filter let it pass. And I highly doubt they are sorry for spamming

but whos going to waste the time of going to somebody's username and look at a project when (1) there a spammer(and 2) u don't know them. any way i didn't say just a link, i meant like what u said, if it says "Look at my project" and/or "sorry for spaming" etc.

Re: Spam Filter Is Too Gullible

In conclusion, don't look at a spammer's project unless the comment tells you what the project is and how it relates to yours. Unless you know the spammer.

But the whole point of having the filter was to prevent this from happening! Which is why I brought it up. It is too gullible! I don't like seeing 3 of the same messages, but each has a different ending character

Re: Spam Filter Is Too Gullible

I know, I hate the filter, but it stopped spam for awhile, and now spam is worse! Why don't they just ban spammers? Just asking. It's easy for spammers, and hard for the people who don't spam!!

Ha ha it says you can only type 2 lines on here but look what I did: _____    _____________   ______________ Those are 3 lines!♫

But who cares about spam! Delete the links, or ignore them and get another comment on your project  tongue !

Some really awesome guy once said this:
