Yes. I had my first middle school dance last night. It was really fun! Most of the time if was mainstream music and dancing with my friends, but a billion kids requested slow songs (IDK why they like them so much) so we all found partners. I was surprised how many people said yes, no one rejected me! Asking someone wasn't as bad as you'd think, it just comes out of your mouth before you can control it. I mean, you were allowed to reject, but you must be honest and do so respectfully.

Do you guys have any dances at your school? Were they fun? Did you slow dance? Were they so bad you never went back again? Discussify.

I remember my first dance, the boys and girls were on opposite sides of the gym like there was some kind of invisible force field between us. So now whenever there is a dance I go ice skating or rollorblading with friends instead cool

same, but I still go to the dance. they do snowballs so you have to dance with somebody. they have like body guards guarding the exits and restrooms xD

My school's had two dances so far this year.
I've been to neither.
Everyone always complains about how I never go and such, but I don't really care much for dancing. Not like anyone ever even dances at my school dances- And I don't even have to go to know that. They just take massive amounts of pictures of themselves with their "boyfriends" and friends. Also, at my school, practically the only people that go to the dances are sixth graders. I find that amusing

I went to a Sockhop, which aren't official dances, people just talk and run around at them until something like the Cha Cha Slide comes on.

Okay! Here are some tips and facts I've conducted for asking people and such-(Yes, I know I'm a girl, and I'm only 11, but these are true)

-If you're scared, then take a deep breath and walk over to the girl. Ask her. She will most likely say yes.

-Girls seem to be more confident than the boys at this age( yikes ), so even though the boys are supposed to ask the girls, it usually comes out the other way around.

-If there is a DJ and you can request songs, you may request a slow song if you want to dance.

-Don't feel like you need to ask somebody-I danced with my friends for 3 hours straight in 2 1/2 inch shoes! yikes

-If you're interested in slow dancing with a lot of people, then there is this thing called 'snowball.' You will dance with somebody, then the DJ will say 'snowball'. (You can request to snowball) You then dance with the next random person. We did this.

Ikr. My friend tried to go to the bathroom and the science teacher wouldnt let him becuase he thought my friend was trying to escape teh slow dances and he ended up dancing like he had ants in his pants xD

I think school dances are really fun (even though I never really actually dance at them tongue ). And I did slowdance at the ones I've been to. It's really not that hard to ask people--few people will say no.
