This has GOT to have been mentioned before, right? We have notifications if somebody replies to our projects, but if we have a reply to a forum topic, we will never know unless we check, and it is a real chore to leaf through all the forum posts.

Ahem, I mean you still have to enter a forum post to check (I think though I haven't really explored the forums very much)

The Scratch website and forums are separate - so it would require a lot of hard work for something that could easily be worked around.

Plus, people like me who create and reply to a bunch of forum posts would get their messages spammed with stuff like this... Which would mean lots of stress on the server. Also, it might be rather difficult to integrate as the forums are a completely separate entity. While I do admit it wouldn't be a bad idea - I can't tell you how many times New Scratchers have gone on the forums, asked a question, and never returned - it just has cons that far outweigh the pros.
