Do you have a microphone? You need one to record stuff.

What gettysburg11 said... you can't record yourself without a working microphone.
If you have microphone but it just won't record, why not post it in the Troubleshooting section?
I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

The mic crops out anything it can't hear in the beginning. Maybe you're not being loud enough?
