Mapping School!
I'm making a mapping school for those who want to learn how to map.
You have to promise though, you can't steal my business on the TBGs.
So, you can sign up. There's probably going to be 1 lesson per week.

Mapping School-Lesson 1
Beginning Steps
Part 1-Getting Your Resources
The first thing we need is our resources. Programs, tilesets... So I have made a zip file for you. What it includes:
Tiled (java)
Tiled (windows) (in a folder)
Tiled (mac)
Tilesets of [tsx] files and [png] files (in a folder)

So, first we are going to work with the java version.
Feel free to explore it for a few minutes, and let's get on to it.
So, if you've used any type of paint program before, you should know the basic paint commands.

Can I just download the tilesets and use stencyl? I don't want to download programs and I have stencyl, you said you use that somtimes. if I have to, I'll download the programs, but I still don't want to

Okaayy, whenevr I use tiled, the tiles leave a translusenct trail, and HOW DO YOU IMPORT TILESETS IN SETNCYL.
Srry for being such a n00b, but I just got stencly, and am still trying to figure everything out

You can delete tiled if you want. I will post a tutorial about both. But for now, i'll just answer your question.
so make a new game
should look like this
click the tilesets tab on left
and this should pop up
make any name, i chose example
after, this should pop up
press [choose image] and then locate the tilesets. choose the first for simplicity
and then this should show
press [add]
and then this
and then you can [x] out that tab and go back to game center
under tilesets, here it is:
and when you make a new scene, use this tileset. now you can do it with the rest.
