By the looks of things, I'm not going to get the designs any time soon. Should I just cancel this project?

Maybe you could try making the levels yourself? I'm curious what creativity you could create  smile

What version are you trying to install?

6.0.8 - I managed to get it to write to the blank disk, but it won't let me open any of the applications in the System Folder.

Re: Mac's Quest to Fix the Apple: Designs Needed

That's the problem! I can't think of how the levels and stuff should look. I've tried, but it was an epic fail. That's why I need people to design them and I'll add them to the project. Sadly, I haven't got 1 design. Can I at least get some concept art here?

Re: Mac's Quest to Fix the Apple: Designs Needed

Coolstuff, here is the Mac OS 6.0.8 disk image. It lacks apps except for the SysVersion app. I was going to bundle some stuff for it, but hardly any of my apps were compatible. Enjoy!
WindozeNT

EDIT: It unzips to 6 MB. And if it still refuses to load your apps, that means they [the apps] need System 7 to work. What errors do you recieve when you start them?

Re: Mac's Quest to Fix the Apple: Designs Needed

What happened? It seems like people aren't seeing the need of help from some projects. I have no other choice but to step up a level to help motivate people. If I don't have enough ideas by September 18th to make the project, I'll permanently cancel the project and will request the idea threads to be closed. Please don't make me have to do that. People, I need ideas! Send 'em in so Mac's Quest to Fix the Apple is a success! Please!

I've got some ideas, and I'm working on it. Need more ideas though.

Re: Mac's Quest to Fix the Apple: Designs Needed

not to be rude or anything but scratch is a programming language (very high :p)
not a place for artists (im not trying to start a flame war)
so why would anyone want to design levels for You when you would do all the programming?

It's a place for programmers and artists. Besides, I'm sure they would get credit.

Oh, and here's an idea: the scroller scrolls through a very long desktop, where the desktop background is based on the version's latest backround (snow leopard: leopard in snow, Aura (whenever it came out, it was recent, though), etcetera...). The powerups are all icons, and the enimies are those round colorful spinning balls which indicate ap not responding. They roll.

Ah. good point. So basically, the desktop picture is static or something along those lines?

Here are two rough-draft thumbnails of level indicators:

The one on the left is more SMB-style. The one on the right is Macintosh-y. Which one looks better? How can I improve them?

Re: Mac's Quest to Fix the Apple: Designs Needed

Just implemented the Spinning Wheel, and got it straight from the horse's mouth. In other words, I extracted the 6 frames from the Spinning Wheel's ANI cursor file and put them in Scratch. It is tiny though.

Great! What exactly is the Horse's mouth?

It's an idiom meaning you got something from the direct source.

If I can vote in this, I'm rootin' for the one on the right.
