Not spam like "look at my project!"
Spam as in Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages. For example "sklmldkmaskasdksdblahblah."

Would it also be okay to flag flame-bait?

A comment like that isn't offensive.. Just annoying. I'd delete it and ignore it, and if the problem persists, flag it then. smile

Depends on the flame bait, and also depends on the spam. It's sorta one of those things that you know when to do it and when not to do it.

If its just one or two comments delete it and ignore it and tell them to stop, if they continue to do it and they ignore you flag them.

Well, in my opinion, something like "fakjalkjf jfkjaldkjfalkfj" should be deleted and ignored. If you get something like "NOW THAT YOU ARE READING THIS YOU CANNOT STOP, FORWARD THIS TO 5 PEOPLE OR DIE TONIGHT." You know what i'm talking about? That should be flagged in my opinion.

Flame bait is definitely flaggable. By flagging that, you're making a moderators' job waaaay easier so that we don't have to deal with the flame wars that erupt out of the comment. smile

Spam, too, ought to be flagged - it's just keeping things clean. smile

(Somebody - Chrischb or Jonathanpb - suggested a while back changing the name of the "flag as inappropriate" link because it's not really an accurate representation of what the button should be used for.)
