Don't take the title too literally. But it would be a good idea if the Scratch team chose, say, 4 possible themes of a Scratch Design Studio and then the community would vote for their favourite one.

If there is an main event going on (e.g. FIFA, Christmas, Halloween), obviously there wouldn't be any voting required.

I think this would make the Scratch Community more involved with what's happening on the Scratch website. I'd be really interested on what you have to say on the idea!

If you support the idea and have access to Scratch Suggestions, you can vote for it here or otherwise just have your say on it here.

this is a nice idea- however i don't think we should have holiday themes because not everyone celebrates holidays.

Wow! I've been using Scratch for over 2 years and haven't even noticed this! But the process could be made easier if this process were to be more direct.

Can I ask if this is where all Scratch Design Studio ideas come from or is it more Scratch team generated?

Good point. Although not everyone celebrates these holidays, they are generally accepted. For instance, I don't celebrate Halloween but I do recognise it as a holiday.

Yes! Thank you. People were really mad and not seeing the point on the "hurry up with the halloween stuff sratch peoples" thread. I think it would be better to have a "Traditions" gallery around the holidays so it is broader so more people can participate. smile

It's been mostly ideas we've come up with in the past. We created the suggest a new Design Studio gallery recently to get more ideas from the community. We also have someone new who'll be helping with Design Studios - a friend who shares a lot of our educational values / goals. So it's a good time to make suggestions / think about this. smile

it would be cool to be like that user lightnin! i tend to check the studio fairly often when i'm on (apart from the one currently up- the Halloween one). Maybe the person who suggests the theme and it gets used can be able to add projects to the gallery theme they suggested at least for that theme?

Hey - that's a really cool idea! smile You should put it up on the Suggestions page.

One thing to think about: the most important skill of a Design Studio curator is their ability to make constructive comments about the project - that's really an important part of what makes Design Studio good. Maybe we could make a project that shows great examples of how to do this, and show it to the person whose design studio gets chosen?
