Could a forum moderator or Scratch Team member please tell me why New Scratchers can't get onto the Miscellaneous forum? I really don't mind having to wait for it, as long as I can get a clear answer as to why it isn't available to "New" Scratchers like me. smile

ADVANCED TOPICS

It shows advanced programming/modification of the Scratch program or other ADVANCED features. Is "Why cant new members get onto misc." advanced? No!

I know. If they can't get into Misc they go in here instead. But we don't want to be discouraging.

look, I'm sorry, I don't know where this should go, I wasn't sure whether it should go in here or n a different forum. If you're so mad about where it is, contact the Scratch team and ask them to move it somewhere more appropriate.

Looks like this thread has now been moved to New Scratch Members, so back on topic.. As far as I know New Scratchers don't have the ability to post in the misc section due to a large amount of spam that has appeared there. Their may be other reasons too? smile

A certain attack of inappropriate content caused the New Scratcher status to be made. The Miscellaneous forum was locked to New Scratchers because it's kinda like you have to prove that you want to be a trustworthy and helpful member of the community before you're rewarded somewhat with ability to post in Miscellaneous.

Not just spam, but a dungheap of terrible links. To prevent it from happening again, New Scratchers cannot post in Miscellaneous until they prove themselves worthy. wink

New Scratchers can't get on the Misc. You need to become a trusted Scratcher first, because spammers always go there to spam.

It takes about 2 months to become a normAL Scratcher. Hope this helps!
