Well scratch team you don't have to but i think there should be a new rule in the scratch terms of use. NO TALKING ABOUT RELIGION ON SCRATCH. I once went to a gallery with a religous theme and there were arguments all over the place and some comments even had to be flagged. The whole scratch community should work together regardless of religion or race, so therefore i think religious talk on projects, galleries, forums or ANYTHING should be banned. Please give me your views.

My views are that any topic can be discussed in a polite manner. An exchange of ideas is a good thing...it may or may not lead to agreement, but either way it helps people understand each other better.
The problem comes when people stop being polite. It can be tough to hear viewpoints that don't agree with yours. Emotions can run high. And that is okay too...as long as the discussion remains respectful and polite.

i agree with paddle2see. besides if it was in a religious themed gallery it can be ignored if you wish.

Polite disscussions are fine, but the thing is discussions don't always remain polite when they are about religion. There is the flagging system but prevention is always better than cure and it would be best to ban all sensitive topics.

I think we should not ban the topic of religion. For a lot of people religion is an important part of their lives and they should be allowed to talk about it. On the other hand, disrespectful comments about any topic, including religion, are not acceptable.

I agree with those who say religion should continue to be allowed. Religion is a big part of many people's worldview... and you can't really ban worldview. Getting rid of religion would be like banning some people's worldviews but not others'.
I agree, though: politeness is required.

This topic was created a long time ago, and since then, we've actually made the decision to disallow topics discussing strongly opinionated subjects like religion and politics, because they often break out into huge arguments. I'll close this topic to prevent any further confusion.

I would like to clarify something about what coolstuff said: strongly opinionated subjects are discouraged from the forums, largely due to the fact they become flamebait topics very quickly; however, there is no ban on religion and politics whatsoever on the Scratch website in general, insofar as the subject follows the Terms of Use.
