Re: Soyl

This is a really ambitious idea. Not saying i don't like it (in fact, i would be pretty keen to join in) but it is near the impossible. Especially not really knowing any asm or c code at all.  hmm

Put me in as a maybe and i'll see how this evolves (i'm basically reserving a place)
1) LS97
2) VisualBasic, C++, HTML, DOS, trying to learn C or ASM
3) just save a spot for everything
4) and how would that be?
5) i've got it all in my head -- theyre great

Re: Soyl

wouldn't you have to make everything from scratch though: registry, new file types ect.. ??  hmm
I am willing to help however...

1) Daffy22
2) VBS, DOS (really good at it  smile  ), HTML, PHP, JS, FTP language, many more web based languages
3) Graphics, DOS scripts mainly.  big_smile
4) Well I am really good at graphics and at DOS so, yeah!  lol
5) not sure but I will have some good ones soon!

Re: Soyl

Oh, and by the way... you'd be better off building a custom Linux distro. Period. Debian and Ubuntu are the top two for building off of.

1) Bbbeb
2) HTML (CSS), Some python, Visual Basic and Some C++.
3) Maybe graphics and some coding.  big_smile
4) I can work with graphics, can learn programming languages fast, and am responsible! And I can learn the languages quick quick quick!
5) Maybe a Windows-like interface with Linux protection.  That would keep hackers out, temporarily!

Not really! This isn't the collab thread, it's the roster thread!

That is NOT a collab!

Re: Soyl

Personaly, I think you must be barking mad to try this at our/your/my age, as we a young, and have taught ourselves how to program. Right?

If you want to start, use C++ and SDL/OpenGL (OpenGL prefered and better) and make an emulator, like suggested earlier, and then if (a VERY big if) that is successful, then go on to make your own OS, and this will take time, especially if you don't base it of the Linux distribution.

Anyway, I'll help in all things C++!

Application
1. Sperry
2. C++ (and its graphical stuff SDL and OpenGL)
3. Programming
4. Well, I'm working on Ribbit (BTW, if you are doing this, put Ribbit on hold, you can't do two prjects at once.)
5. Do an emulator first, to get the hang of it  wink

Re: Soyl

... I can help with *nearly* anything Debian or Linux based. I can't code C++, but with customization, I'm a whiz.

Programmer and graphics designer.
I know:
C, C#, C++, D, VB, QBasic, Pascal, x86 Assembly, Java, Javascript, Smalltalk, PHP, Python, .NET. I am also familiar with the syntax of HTML, XML, CSS, and Regular Expressions.

I can also be the official spell-checker: "4. Now prove your worthy" should be "4. Now prove you're worthy."

Re: Soyl

K,
1) Jet7889
2) I know HTML by heart, I can use Panther. working on all types of Visual Studio (C,C#,Visual basic, SharePoint Server, Silverlight, Visual C++ Visual F# ETC.)
3) I could be organizer or something
4) I have the Windows SDK (that means i can devlop windows)
5) Start small, then go big. Make the source files very hidden, so no one can find them

One prob, internet?
EDIT: Oh never mind, its not that hard to program in the Wired and Wireless connections so were good, now we just need a browser.
Good/Bad News
Good news is we can make money from this
Bad news we need a file format (Win: .exe Mac: i think its .dmg and Linux/Unix: .bin)
Another Idea
Use a very similar framework to Windows or Ubuntu, then we can run it in VirtualBox

GREAT! We need a browser though. Um. I remember seeing this one guys website saying he made a browser. We could try to find it and use it. Or we could make one! I use IE.

So am I in or what? I haven't really done anything with Ribbit at the moment, too much school work, and I'd rather work on something like this than a mod, if you know what I mean.

Quote my post, and answer everything please. That would let me know what you'd be doing then.  smile
