Re: ROM Files

I don't think the purpose of scratch is to play games like pokemon. The purpose of scratch is to program and learn about programming in the process.

Also, this would take a while to program and it seems like a waste of time as there are already other game sites where you can play pokemon and other things.

Re: ROM Files

Heh heh. My sisters think of Scratch as a gaming environment too, sometimes. Its a joy to explain that work can be play too, when what you're working on is a game! I encourage them to spend more time developing their own ideas rather than just using this site as a resource for entertainment. I think its great that the Scratch team has created such a fun world in which to learn and teach development!

Re: ROM Files

One of the main problems is that opening those ROM files for real games on a computer is actually illegal if you don't own the real game. If you want to open the ROM, just download visual boy advance or something. I've only heard of that so i wouldn't know.
But really, you could just make the pokémon game in scratch.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Re: ROM Files

Honestly, I agree. If you want to play pokemon, go and buy it.

Re: ROM Files

... No, no and no. If you want games, try homebrew. ROMS would definately be a copyright violation. As others said, if you want to play pokemon, go buy it. It's a pity that the Crater is gone, but life goes on.

Re: ROM Files

No, he wants commercial games like Pokemon Blue running in a java based emulator on the main website. No. If you want online based emulators, try dan-dare.info and sister sites. They've got a great online emulator...although the legality is questionable.
