I am not a lawyer but I think it is fine to use pictures of playmobile objects as long as it falls into the category of "Fair Use". Read more about it on this other post:
http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=380
Also read about what Fair Use is in this Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use
In short, I would not worry about using playmobil images on your project as long as you do not make money out of it and you use it for educational purposes.
But that is just my opinion. I talked to a law professor the other day and he said the even lawyers are still trying to figure out these kind of situations.

I'm a German trial attorney and quite frequently involved in intellectual property matters. All I can tell you is that in Germany you would have absolutely no problem whatsoever using and publishing images of other people's products, as long as you made these images yourself, because 'things' do not have personality rights in Germany. Even if you decided to 'bash' these products you would have no problem as long as you're not a competitor.
