Have you been modifying the source code?
One thing you can try is to shift+click the R in the Scratch logo and look for an option that says "turn fill screen on". Maybe that'll help.

Hmm... OK then, redo the steps to fix that.
So you haven't been changing the source code? Does the space do anything when you click it?

Sorry - I meant when you type in it, but from your description I'm guessing it does nothing.
I've never seen this before... has anyone else had this happen?

It happened to me in Panther when I tried to load the source code of a large website. I'm not sure what the root of the problem is though. (Obviously, Scratch doesn't have any web features besides Share) What did you do immediately before this happened?

Eh.. just playing games before this happened to me, haven't really been messing with scratch, but it could be a possibility that my little bro might have been messing with it, not sure though.

I remember that I answered such a question before...
EDIT: Here's the solution:
1. Access VM Preferences.
2. Mouse over "Debug Options".
3. Click "Show output console".

ya well my friend got a text box in his project that you can type stuff in and the sprite will do what you tell it to if it is something it recognizes. I think I know how that works just how do u get the dang box?

Sound like the new ask block. That feature is only available in Scratch 1.4; if you already have Scratch 1.4, then you're set, just check out the light blue blocks.

Just do the same steps to get rid of it but click 'show' output console instead

I KNOW! But it only works on windows. Click on the cat thumbnail at the topleft of the window. Then select VM prefrences. Then click on "Show console" or something and turn it off.

are you aware that this thread is years old and you are probably replying to users who no longer use the site?
