Read the title. I think we should be able to edit comments because sometimes I'll make a typo in my comment, and instead of just being able to edit it, I have to post a reply to the comment.
If somebody would post this on the suggestions website, it would be greatly appreciated, becuase I'm out of votes.
Thanks

I think that would be cool. The only problem I see is that someone could write something mean, wait for the person to see it, and then edit it so they don't get in trouble. I think it is harder to control that sort of activity in the main website than in the forums.

Well, we could have it so that if somebody flags a comment, then until the scratch team/mods deems it appropriate or inappropriate then the person who posted it would not be able to edit it.

I think that would be really cool!

Interesting idea... But I don't think comments necessarily need an edit feature like the forums. Because comments are mostly one-sided "comments" rather than "discussions" (like the forums) the only thing necessary to edit is typos, which aren't really that urgent.

I have to agree with Coolstuff. You can always just point out the fact that you made the typo... I don't know.

Yeah, unlike forums where you can make large posts to contribute to a deep discussion, and editing for mistakes is often crucial, on projects/galleries, considering the 500 character limit, it's less likely for you to need to edit the comment, so it would most likely do more harm than good. After all, unlike the forums which are heavily moderated, projects/galleries are less, so harmful comments may stay for a longer time; so editing could cause hurt feelings.

Actually, most people can edit your posts - it's just that you're pretty new around here, so to prevent spam and such, you've got some of your privileges removed. Don't fret, though - they'll come soon enough if you prove yourself worthy!

Ok, thanks everybody for the suggestions... I guess you're kind of right, there are more disadvantages then there are advantages to do that, oh well... Well, now that i've been convinced, I don't really mind that much anymore
You can close this topic now, I see your point.
