I'm not sure where this go's.
Anyway, instead of some crazy formula you can simply say:
if touching<sprite1>{
set <x> to < x position>
set <y> to < y position>
move <500> steps
if on edge bounce
go to x<x> y<y>
move<*> steps }
I think it works any way.
*suggested go away speed <previous velocity * 2>
