Are there any Scratchers out there who are good at making music with the MIDI blocks that come with Scratch?
I need a soundtrack for this game: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/the_guardian/169865
I plan on writing scripts that will change the tempo based on the amount of action on the screen. All I need is a good soundtrack.
I will prominantly display your name on the title screen and give you credit for the music if I use your soundtrack.
I don't need a full length song, just short bursts of different music clips in MIDI.
Any takers?

i'll try. anyway your scrolling background: no offense, but the one i used in my enemy encounter game would make it even better. BTW does it have to be made with the scratch MIDI blocks? i normally would make something in Garageband.

I want to be able to adjust the tempo, and pause the music (I am already working on those scripts. Besides music files are usually very large while music made with the MIDI blocks tend to be very small. I don't want a game that is so big people have to download it to play it.

No offense, but your background for enemy encounter has way too many stars. I wanted a clean background with just enough stars to feel like you are moving.
I do like your game though.

okay whatever your game. anyway, it is very hard to make it with those midi scripts.

The_guardian: I think the person you're looking for is Jens. He's made several project that randomly generate music; cool, but probably not what you're looking for. Other than that, I've never heard any really great music projects, but it's worth looking through the site. In the meantime, I'd recommend sticking with a single .mp3 compressed on "normal" no longer than 20 seconds long. If you only want part of a track, I find that mp3DirectCut is very useful for splicing and dicing mp3 files. Although I'm not sure how you'd adjust the tempo with an mp3, the PS2 game Jak II has an interesting effect where the music changes subtley whether you're on a vehicle, hoverboard, holding a weapon, etc. A similar technique could be done with overlaying mp3s at variable volumes. As for the pausing, I'm really not sure. I saw some screenshots of the beta 1.3 and I can't believe that wouldn't include an option to pause sounds. Maybe wait it out a month? Anyway, good luck; can't wait to hear what you pick.

I like the idea of a MIDI soundtrack! I don't have any musical talents though. You could just pick a popular piece of music (Star Wars?) and get the sheet music and put it in. A couple of bars wouldn't be too terrible would it?

I'd love to be able to pick some music and put it in, but I can't read sheet music. My musical talents are pretty much none existant.
