Tomorrow, or today for some, is the 70th birthday of John Lennon. An amazing singer and songwriter, and one of the founding members of "The Beatles." He will be remembered dearly in the hearts of many.

At around 10:50 pm on 8 December 1980, soon after Lennon and Ono returned to the Dakota, the New York apartment building where they lived, Mark David Chapman shot Lennon in the back four times at the entrance to the building. Earlier that evening, Lennon had autographed a copy of Double Fantasy for Chapman. Lennon was taken to the emergency room of nearby Roosevelt Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival at 11:07 pm.
While solo, he has written very inspiring songs that have influenced me, an some of the world such as "Imagine" and "Give Peace a Chance
Please post considerately nice, this topic is for John Lennon and much too selfless to be ruined.
In addition, I would like to ask all that all that are both mourning, and celebrating, John Lennon to add a special message into their signature. Give peace a chance.
The following code is of the line stated above:

Thank you, and happy birthday, John Lennon.

RIP John Lennon. The world is still by your side.

John Lennon was my favorite musician ever, and my favorite thing is music. The Beatles are my favorite band, and John Lennon was probably the most talented along with Paul. Lennon is pretty much one of my music idols... Well, for guitar (I play a tiny bit of guitar), my drum role model is Mitch Mitchell
R.I.P. John, there are not many kids my age that think you´re the best, but you are.

He was - and still is - a huge inspiration for song writers.
Happy birthday, John Lennon

Question: What happened to David Chapman? Did he die?
Mark Chapman
He's still in jail, actually. He's been denied bail like, five times since 1980.

Me too. I cried.
We're celebrating his birthday today, though, you know- Not his death.
Er.. John Lennon's been a huge influence in my life. Not just his music, but even some of the things he's said and done has changed my way of seeing things. And, you know, he wrote some inspirational songs while still with the Beatles, but I guess if you wanted to celebrate him individually.. So yeah. He's my favorite Beatle, anyway, and he's one of my favorite singers as a solo artist, too
So, yeah, happy birthday, John Lennon

Happy birthday. John Lennon was awesome. It's not to many times you find a nice, relaxed guy who's peace loving, and extremely good at singing.

There.
Oh, and has anyone ever asked their parents what December 8th, 1980 was like?
I have. According to my dad, there was an NFL game on that night, I believe, and they had to stop it because the players were too depressed to play, due to the announcer dude announcing that John Lennon had just been shot.

I'm not sure if anyone has answered this question- but he got 20 years to life in prison. He's in prison to this very day.

That's funny, I was actually going to put in a segment about my mom, but the "Bad request" got me and I had to hurry to bed.
But~
On December 8th, my mom was a Freshman in Highschool. She was homesick with Strep Throat and was laying on the couch, watching I Love Lucy when a news alert came on. The whole day, she watched the coverage, mourning the death of a singer that she loved. Oh, and also- they share a birthday lol.

My mom doesn't remember it at all.
(Apparently, that day wasn't as significant to her as it was to my dad.)
My dad was a huge John Lennon fan, though, so of course he remembered. He was.. Uhh.. 16 or so then.
He said that, at the time, all of him and his friends' musical taste was centered around John, so it was a hard time. (Quoting my dad almost exactly on this, so yeah, it didn't make much sense, but you know what he meant ) He didn't tell me much about his personal reaction, but thats kind of understandable. I might ask him again today, if it comes up. (Which it should.. I arranged the letter magnets on the refrigerator to spell out "Happy BDay, John Lennon" XD)
