Scratch for Nintendo DS

I know this might sound a bit stupid, but for a while now, i've been fantasizing  about a way to program scratch projects to fit the nintendo DS's controls, and a way to put the project(s) onto a DS game pak. I thought maybe an idea on how to do this would be to have a pack with a CD-ROM with the scratch for DS program, which comes with a blank DS game and a game pak dock that connects to your computer through a USB port. I'm not really sure if any of this would work, but if it did, it would be totally AWESOME!  big_smile

Re: Scratch for Nintendo DS

This has been a high requested idea, but:
1. The Scratch Team does not have the money and support to do this
2. The Scratch Team would have to re-write the whole Scratch program to run on a DS system
3. And much more, that is only a two of the issues!

This is a great idea, and I like the idea too, but I doubt that we will ever see this working out properly.  wink

Re: Scratch for Nintendo DS

I would like to echo exactly what coka said. The Scratch Team just doesn't have the resources; so I'll repeat what I said here:

Me wrote:

I agree with this, but you must remember these few things:

1) Scratch was volountarily made, and it was programmed in Squeak, which as far as I know is not (yet) compatible with iPod Touch/iPhone. This would cause the scratch team to program a completely different program with a completely different programming language

2) Scratch is not trying to be successful. It's main goal it to teach beginners the basics of programming, which I think it does quite well on SamSung phones, iMacs, and PCs. I do believe that and iPhone/iPod Touch app would be going "too far".

But don't let these things let you down! Keep on hoping and your dreams will come true!

A better place to discuss this is herewink

I fall: It's a tragedy. You fall: It's comedy.
Hmph enjoy your fall - I get a lovely spring... without pans of new leaves.

Re: Scratch for Nintendo DS

It would be good if there were an iphone app, but I can see how it would be difficult.
Did you program scratch in C++?

Scratch was programmed in Squeak, which is a variant of Smalltalk, which has some relation to C++.

Chrischb mentioned a better place to discuss this - which essentially makes this a duplicate thread. I'll close it.
