This weekend, I'm going with my Boy Scout troop, so I won't be here. I'm leading the tours for 9 other guys and some leaders, and my dad'll help me out too.
To promote some discussion, have you ever been to Gettysburg? If so, did you like it? If not, would you want to go?

We took the family down there a few years back...it's an amazing place. It looks so peaceful now, it's hard to imagine that it was a major battlefield during the US Civil War. We had to visit Little Round Top where the 20th Maine distinguished itself by holding the end of the Union battle line against repeated Rebel charges. Very moving!
Have a great time leading your tour...it sounds like a great time.

Yeah, it's real peaceful out there now; even I have a hard time imagining it being a bloody battlefield.
I'm actually watching some cassettes right now to brush up on my knowledge

I've been there before. We were driving around on a trail through it, and they said there would be reenactments going on as you drove, but there weren't.

Where and what is Gettysburg? I'm afraid I'm not an American historian

Gettysburg is a town in southern Pennsylvania where probably the most major battle in the Civil War was fought. The battle took 3 days, and there were over 50,000 casualties when you combine the Union and Confederacy's losses.

Like a road? There's certain weekends when reenactors come I think. There's gonna be some there this weekend, which should be nice.

I thought Abe Lincoln was assassinated in Gettysburg or something
That's really all there is to say on the matterOffline

He was shot by John Wilkes Boothe at the Ford Theater. Although I don't know where any of these places are, I don't think they are the same.

Lincoln was shot in Ford theater... Kennedy was shot in a Ford car.
Both were succeeded by a vice president named Johnson.

And that's not even the tip of the iceberg! There are way more similarities:
* Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946. * Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
* Both were shot in the back of the head in the presence of their wives. * Lincoln was shot in the Ford Theatre. Kennedy was shot in a Lincoln, made by Ford * Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.
*Both Presidents were shot on a Friday. * Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy. * Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson. * Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. * Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.' Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by 'Ford.'
* Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse. Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater. * Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.

My Dad's been. He said it was really cool, and the information the tour guide gave him was really extensive and interesting.
