w00t!

My C64 cassette drive came in-box just now! In the original box!    ...The C64 is on the way still. Also, if your going to post "it's obsolete" or anything at all negative, INCLUDING ANYTHING AT ALL ABOUT FIRES, BEAT IT. Hopefully things will go better this time.

Save up and visit Ebay often. They're snatched up fast, though.

Re: w00t!

What would be the point of that? You can make your own games better and easier on computer programs. Probably even Scratch can do it better.

It's fun? It probably wouldn't be block based like Scratch, it'd be many lines of word coding. Also it's not like the C64 is around much these days. You'll probably only ever meet an average of about 3 other people in your life who have one. So that means you'll be the only one able to play it.

Are there emulators for C64's?

Yes. But they don't always work well. Also, you'd be surprised how many people still code for the thing.

They code specifically for the C64, or they use the same language that it uses?

So how many? A few dozen? I don't expect the market for C64's to be popular, especially with so little people having the console itself, and what other reason besides making money would programmers have for making games for an obsolete system?

Maybe Thousands. They do it as a hobby. Demos, games, music utilities, all sorts of stuff. All because they can. It's a scene of makers.

Is the coding original to C64? I mean is it the only thing that uses the language?

Well, it has it's own assembly code, but it has BASIC which is (was) pretty widely used.

I am referring to people who are writing and compiling programs to run on C64 specifically.

Re: w00t!

Ace you seem to be acting very negative. Please try to prevent being mean. PW123 is trying to share delight with others about his new program. If you complain on how others never use this, or how he shouldn't use it because scratch is better, than this topic is primarily useless.

I may not be any type of authority, but i think it would be helpful if you merely asked questions.

Thanks ace!

Anywho, congrats on your cassette PW! Hope you have lots of fun!

I think Next got mixed up; This isn't a cassette, it's the cassette DRIVE, the device that reads and writes data from the cassette and to the cassette. It looks like this:
