First of all to clear things up:
Ai= Artificial Intelligence
Vehicle= Something that moves (basically)
Contest= Well, Everyone should know this one
I have just released a Car Ai that works pretty well. I think it would be pretty cool to race against, so if anyone wants to turn it into a game go ahead. Heres the link: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/newareagle/223029
Now on to the contest:
I want to talk about the Autonoumos Car, and if in any way we could create a system (A lot of Scripts) That can use sensors to turn perfectly, and also use sensors to change speed based on closest obstructions. The car could learn to avoid many object, and learn to find certain ones. (My project so far only looks for obstruction, it doesn't look for pathways)
To make it clearer lets say you want to get on a bridge, but only when you are a certain distance to it. if we made a bridge it on sprite, and when the car was a certain distance away from the bridge it points towards it as long as there were no obstructions.
I know there is a competition (forgot its name), for autonomous vehicles. I would like to create a competition on Scratch where you create your own vehicle with its own scripting and make it do a specific task that a group of judges would create. Then you could create the Ai and make it so it works on the path. Of course we would have to make set rules like speed, size, location, and Number of Sprites/Scripts.
If anyone would like to help me with this challenge, or make an Ai/show me on eof there own, i would be grateful. I just created the gallery for the contest, so for now add in any Ai's: http://scratch.mit.edu/galleries/view/24909
Please leave some good feedback and be sure to check the gallery every once in a while for some new information!

interesting, nobody will know what vehicle is but they'll know what contest is

Haha yeah Do you have any Ai projects you would like to add?

I think this could fit here. http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/ashbyr1/223126

Ok, I have put Deatheaters and BigB's projects in the gallery. I would like to know what Ashybyr is planning to do with his/her slug. (Make it so it goes around a course?) Anyway once we have a lot of good Ai projects we can choose judges that have a good knowledge of Scratch and didn't have any projects in there.

I guess I could make one where two sprites are semi-far away from the car and infront and when they touch the walls they turn the car. I can't be bothered though
Ah come on it will be fun

Don't you mean BigB? And I can be a judge, knoc my project out. If you need.

Lol sorry bout that Anyway, i think you too should keep your projects up and I will find two judges somehow...

We should have jens and kevin_karpulus. Or archmage, or, well alot of people I want to make this contest big though, so we might need to wait and see if the contest gets featured. The amount of judges should depend on the amount of projects. Also we need a way of scoring. Ithink: Simplicity (5 Points), Smoothest Movement (10 Points), Mistakes? (5 Points), Attempts needed (5 Points), Complications (10 Points) Manuverability (10 Points) Reaction Times (5 Points) and even more!

And be more specific about the project (contest entries) because I need to know if I need to make a better one

Well remember, the Ai's need to move around a course avoiding obstacles. They shouldnt be Ai's that just jump around and shoot. Its just got to be a car, bike, tank, any vehicle, that moves around a course.

We need more entrees!

I'm working on one.

If my 1 sprite one isn't OK, i'll do another. But I got my hands full with reversi cause it's not working. But I just got an idea…

Ok well You would have a better chance with a more complicated one, that was always right.Also M44 had this great idea: He said I should make a contest where people draw there vehicle in there own specifications, and then I made an Ai robot out of them and had them fight and actual competition on the scratch site. It could consist of shooting, moving around, weapons, and a lot of fun stuff. It could be a lot of work but tell me if you want this to happen. It sure would be a lot of fun.

is it supposed to learn or just react?
It can do both, as long as it can respond to its surrounding (avoid obstacles.) Your is pretty good as it is, but Im not sure how much room there is for improvement.
