Storing Variables Online

What this would be is a way to keep variables the way they were when someone leaves a project they were just on. a block would be added saying "store variable ___ in score board" I will give a demonstration/story. bob, who is a scratcher comes and plays a game he finds called "space invaders on scratch" he gets a score of 197 which is added to the high score area that shows the top ten scores. he then brags in the comment box he got a 315. sam, another scratcher comes along and plays space invaders on scratch he checks the score board in the project and sees bob only got a 197, therefore, he knows the actual scores instead of having to trust fellow scratchers which sometimes you just can't do.

Re: Storing Variables Online

This would be cool, if there was some kind of save game feature.

Re: Storing Variables Online

This would be wonderful! I have heard it suggested plenty of times. I support!

Maybe the data could be used for scoreboards, but I can also imagine it used for saving games. For example, each user gets all their variables stored. It might a little difficult to sort things out, though, and not to mention how it may stress out the server  hmm

Re: Storing Variables Online

Great idea coolstuff! you could use it for getting saved "profiles" for each user. but it might slow the game down a bit if there were to many views. I'm thinking of this more being just a top 10 or something scoreboard that only stores your score and your name. Wow, that just gave me another idea! there should be a variable block that knows whos playing it online so it wouldn't have to ask what your user name is it could just know in the first place 'cause the information's already there.
