Can you use animated GIFs in Scratch?

I know you can just switch costumes, but I'm just wondering... and too lazy to find one and try myself 
Also, can you edit your own posts in the forums? It's very annoying when you realise you've said something wrong and you have to wait 10 minutes to post again.

Sadly no, you can import all frames of a GIF as costumes, but switching costumes is the only way to get it to animate, sorry.
And about the second question, you can once your rank becomes "Scratcher". Don't worry, though, if you post lots it's usually only about a month of waiting.
I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Interesting. Although I prefer switching costumes. Dr Deadpebble., I presume? (cont.) you can't edit your posts?
