Well, here it is, Friday. Unfortunately, something has come up and I need to leave for Buffalo at noon today. I hope to return by Sunday afternoon, so I should be able to post the standings then.
I apologize for dropping the ball right out of the gate, but I have a personal matter that can't wait.
Thank you for your understanding.
Mike.

Hey im back for 3 days before leaving again so I wont be able to do this weeks Tournament. Since Mdusoe couldn't do last weeks (dont worry about it mike) i shall try and fit it in this week.
Thanks again to andresmh for the front page features as I am sure it will greatly help all those amateur scratchers out there.

I think it would be cool if you could add a theme to one of the tournament rounds
I think this is a great idea and I am open to suggestions for any themes that can be entered. I shall add more information about this when I return in 3 weeks.

Question: which counts more, views or LoveIts? Currently, my Duck Hunt project is beating Mario in LoveIts, but Mario is beating Duck Hunt in views.
Here are the statistics:
Mario: 2363 views, 58 LoveIts
Duck Hunt: 1804 views, 60 LoveIts

Basically it goes on a points basis (that hasn't come into play yet since all the winners so far have won both categories). Simply a first place in either of the two contests gets you 5 pts, 2nd= 4 etc. So it needs to be a good all rounder with both a lot of Love its and a lot of Views. If there is a draw then both projects win.

okay, first i am the losing creator, then I have the love at first site award winning project.

Today's Rankings (August 3rd, 2007):
Top 5 Loved:
1. Doodle - by Graham (91)
2. Duck Hunt - by S65 (84)
3. Wodunne's World - by Wodunne (59)
4. Mario - by Schneider (58)
5. Web Spinning Spider - by Mayhem (28)
Bottom 5 Loved:
Since there were so many at 0 LoveIts (21 of them), I decided to use the Most Views to break the ties, figuring those that have been around longer should be closer to the bottom
135. Attack of the ghosts - by kan
136. break dance foul - by tld95
137. Marble Maze Full Version - by beebe
138. Tic Tac Toe (With Advanced AI) - by S65
139. Archery Fun - by archmage
Top 5 Viewed:
1. Doodle - by Graham(2687)
2. Duck Hunt - by S65(2552)
3. Mario - by Schneider(2389)
4. Wodunne's World - by Wodunne(1065)
5. Scratch Keybord - by Wodunne(925)
Bottom 5 Loved:
135. Sparky Sniper - by bobjr
136. POD game demo - by bobjr
137. FOOTBALL MANIA -GOAL EDITION - by IGame
138. POD game 2 - by bobjr
139. super special mario bros. - by bobjr
And now for the awards:
Best Project
Doodle by Graham with 2687 Views and 91 LoveIts
It looks like Graham has surpassed Schneider's Mario! In fact, S65's Duck Hunt was right behind Doodle. The Competition is definitely heating up!!!
Graham also takes the Most Loved and Most Viewed Creator awards, since he only has one project, thereby having the best average as well.
Newcomer Award
This week's Newcomer award goes to alexus for the project Ball Fall v1.2. This variation on the classic Frogger idea has good game play and and nice sound. Plus, since v1.2 is already out, alexus is obviously interested in improving it, which is nice to see. Can't for v12.6
That's it for this week. I can never fill Dave's shoes, but hopefully this at least counts as wearing sandals
Mike.

I didn't know Doodle was in the tournament.
And at this rate my project will soon surpass Doodle's (that is, if the Scratch team isn't mean and doesn't remove it from the front page =P)
I still think that as a game Dogfight 3D was better than Duck Hunt, but oh well =P
Edit: oh okay, now they removed it from the front page as soon as I posted this.

The Scratch team only selects the featured projects on the home page. The rest are automatically selected based on number of loveits, downloads, views, etc

Hey Im back. Tremendous Thanks go to mdusoe, without him there would have been a serious drop in the number of contestants in the Scratch Tournament. As Scratch's Tournament is getting very full i shall be recruiting people to help me with the scores each Friday. If you are interested then submit a statement to the forum and i shall get back to you, i am looking for 3-5 members who will need to be able to put aside perhaps half an hour to an hour on fridays to do some ranking. Thank you very much everyone.

Hi Dave, sorry I missed the last couple of weeks. I got too busy with family, etc...
Anyway, I wrote a little Web Scraper to gather the statistics for each project in the Gallery. It is in VB.NET 2.0, since that is my language of choice, so I don't know if I can send you the program. I think my program will work in Visual Basic Express (the free version you can download), but I haven't tried it.
It isn't perfect, but would you like me to send it to you?
Mike.
