I'm pretty tired of seeing age restrictions on nearly everything. TinierMe use to be for everybody to play, but today I found out it's being restricted 13+, and if you're not 13 by a certain time, your entire account is wiped. I came to the Miscellaneous forums to see what was hip and happening to see that the Elections were starting again. So I went to the Announcement forums and.....It's restricted to 14+, I understand more on this than TinierMe but I'm kind of crushed. I was completely up to running again for the moderator elections but, that's still 3 years to wait. I'm becoming 11 soon and 2 years wait for other sites got shorter.......14.....another 3 years....I'm just pretty sick of seeing everything restricted, there aren't many things without them now. It's all 13+, 14+, 16+, 18+, I'm just tired of this all and wish if there was really something wrong about it, to be considered personally for each member that wants to do something, or just restrict them from a certain part(such as the forums).....Sorry for the rant, but as a kid that can't do much, it's quite sad.
EDIT: Well you guys are all correct - There are reasons behind it and I'll probably respect most of it, but this is still an opinion - Don't think I'm trying to make them change it, XD But then again, it should be time for more kid things now.

yep there's always a reason behind it.
I support the age restriction simply because at that age your at least mature enough to handle the responsibilities of an adult
that's not to say that you aren't mature though! i'm just saying that as a generalization kids over 14 are more mature than kids under in enough cases to put a restriction in place.

A law was passed a while ago that basically limited all of kids under 13's social interactions on the internet, and many websites are being forced to comply with that law. Also, I agree with Rufflebee.

I know but aren't most of you guys older than 13? It just feels unfair even with the reasoning behind it, and it should be changed to be slightly more flexible in my opinion. Why not just restrict us from the forums? PMs? Chatboxes etc? How about high-censoring, strong filters, etc...Well as for the moderators, as much as it bums me, I see it more. It one thing blocked from the younger people, and the reasoning is easier for me to see. I can tell the older people can see it much differently, and maybe understanding the reasoning behind the other things more, but it's pretty hard for me.

If you were restricted from the forums than wouldn't it be impossible for you to run for moderator anyway?

Nope, I'm 11.
And, after reading a bit on it, you too will probably find that the age restrictions given by sites are reasonable. I dunno where exactly you can read up on it- Maybe the Privacy Policy or something on the websites? You also might want to read some of the things cheddargirl has said regarding this- She brings up some excellent points, as do many other people.

It's still hard for me to see the point, but it's probably just because I want in on it....*sigh* This probably won't change.

I thought normal filters filter out those things.

No. You can usually set that on those sites, even no filter.
I'm getting the idea of blocking the forums etc from Neopets. It's been an all ages site for a long time now, and while following COPPA, if you are 13 or have parental consent - You may neomail and go on the boards,

Yush. Agreed.
But we can't do anything about it, so why are these topic still being made?
They serve no purpose. The Scratch team already knows that we hate the rule, they're not going to change it.

TINIERME AGE LIMIT???
[Removed by Moderator - please keep the conversation polite]
EDIT: lie about your age. This is the internet.
[Note from Moderator - please recall that the Terms of Use require that you "Be Honest". Lying about your age would be dishonest.]

Thanks for voicing your opinion....but let's try and keep the discussion on this topic over here so it doesn't get too unfocused. Thanks
