Well if they did that just because they aren't eligible to run, then they didn't care about the community as much as they thought they did.

It doesn't seem disrespectful at all. Rather, it seems like you are respectfully expressing how you feel about something you don't like. That kind of criticism is never discouraged.

I should add that part of the reasoning behind our decision has to do with the spam we saw over the Summer. Granted, we have made some changes to the forum software to discourage that sort of thing.

I asked the Scratch Team to clarify the date that you must be fourteen by - for this election, you must be fourteen or older by the 31st of October. So it looks like you're eligible 

EDIT: Also, the Community Moderators page (in the first post) has been updated to clarify the age limit

It's better this way I guess. I think 14+ year olds would make the best moderators.

Anyways I've been around for a few weeks and I've noticed a lot of this elections stuff, but when is the actual election?

The 1st post said there'll be another announcement around the 14th of October, so the actual date will probably be on that thread/post.

There I go, my chances of being a mod are gone  .

Yeah, it's just that 11 months is a long time, and that's approximately how long it'll be for me, and it'll be even longer for other people.

Why don't you feel comfortable?

My guess: As a moderator they would accept that:
• They may have to answering reports that may lead to disturbing language, inappropriate images, and the like
• They will have to spend lots of their time on the Scratch forums, answering reports and so on
• It's a very large commitment (younger people might not understand that  )

• Much younger users might have trouble understanding what's inappropriate and what's not 
• Users need to be mature

Really? Not even 13 year olds? Most things are based on 13, and I did WAY bigger things than community moderators do when I was 11!
