Hi,
I've worked on a SCRATCH project on my lap top and saved it to my desktop on the lap top. I also saved it to my network drive at work. When I try to open up a the file saved to the network on my lap top it works. When I try to open the file saved to the network on a different computer (one in our computer lab) I get this error --- Could not read: bad header --- any ideas why and how I can fix this. I also get the error when I save the file to a thumb drive and try to open it on another lap top.
HELP!!!! I will be presenting this file at a workshop in a few weeks and need to know that it is going to work.
Thanks,
Karen H.

It usually (if not always) means you're trying to open a newer project with an older version of scratch. For example, if you try to open a 1.3 project with 1.2.1, that error will come up. Do the computers you're getting the error on use an older version of scratch? If they are, you can't open it until the newer version of scratch is installed.

I also get a 'bad header' message.
I'm using a networked Mac mini. The network uses OS 10.4 (tiger) software, as does my client computer. I save onto the Server and when I open it up on another Mac mini using OS 10.5 (Leopard), I get the 'bad header message. A student of mine wrote a short program using a PC. She uploaded it to the web, and it worked fine on the Mac Mini using 10.5, but got a 'bad header' message when we downloaded it to that machine. I then transfered the file to our Server and uploaded it on my Mac Mini using OS 10.4. It worked fine. Is there a fix for this apparent 'Leopard' problem???
Thanks.

Are they all using the same version of Scratch?

Hi all. Me and my students (all of them are teachers) are learning Scratch to express ideas about their teaching. We're learning by making collaborative projects (the topics are related but every student is working is his part). The problem is that we can't share projects because when we work on another place an move our scratch files to share them we get the bad header message. This doesn't happen when we dowload the file from Internet. We are using 1.3 on Windows XP. There is any way to overcome this problem or the only way to share is publishing and downloading?
Cheers,
Offray

<clear graphic effects> If you are using an older version on your desktop you might want to try updating the desktop.

This is quite an old topic - I'll close it to prevent confusion
