Can I be a curator?
I think you need to have been on Scratch for a longer amount of time than you. I'm not 100% sure they let new Scratcher's become curators.
OrcaCat seems to have a lot of projects online already, which otherwise indicates that the user is more likely new to the forums but not necessarily new to the website.
I think if OrcaCat explained more to the Scratch Team about the project he/she wants to display on the front page, then he/she might have a good chance of being picked.
Yeah, after a nosy look at OrcaCat's projects, I think the same
Yay cheddargirl!!

Hi, I would love to be a curator if possible! I have a gallery (The best platform games ever!) of great games and I'd like to share that on the front page. Maybe people can learn techniques from it!

Try and expand. What type of projects will you pick - for example - a pokemon game or a rpg game etc;
Why would you like to be picked? Because you know good projects that are underviewed?

I would curate projects that do not have 10 remixes or loveits or favorites. I would curate projects with good music and secrets, and doesn't have one thing off the line, exept for attention.

When applying to be curator, it's good to give some thought to the kind of projects you'd like to show. "Cool projects that most people have never seen!" is a nice idea, but it doesn't really give us a good sense of what you like and why. We want to know what makes a project interesting to you.
Try viewing the projects in your favorites, and see if you can find a theme that describes them. Talk about that theme in your post, and consider providing a few links to good examples of that theme.
For example, I really like projects that use sound input from the microphone to draw interesting designs on the screen. Here's an example of one that I recently added to my favorites: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/MitFan/874786
Let's not forget this, everyone! Explaining what projects you want to choose helps the Scratch Team pick the curators.

we are lucky you keep reposting that, cheddargirl! without it, every speech in this thread would just be "i want to be curator! "

I repeat: (sorry I exactly said this before) I would curate projects that do not have 10 remixes or loveits or favorites. I would curate projects with good music and secrets, and doesn't have one thing off the line, exept for attention.

I would like to be a curator and I would showcase sports games (like, ranging from tennis to ice hockey) because I feel there is a lack of sports games being featured, and I know a few great games and I would like to show those games to the public.

Everyone, keep in mind when you're asking to be curator that you should tell us what kinds of project you want to curate. While it's all well and good that you want to curate projects with only a few love-its, that really doesn't tell us all that much about what kinds of projects you want to curate. Be sure to describe all that!

In light of Lightin's recent post I'm going to rewrite what i would curate.
A good deal of projects that get on the front page these days seem to be prank projects or have minimal programing (ie-press space to see art! not that these are bad- just taking up more room then they should be. and also the recent "Squidward falls while i play unfitting music" projects. there were 3 on the front page the other day). I would curate games that haven't gotten many views. Games take a lot of work. I would like to see the Scratchers who take the time to create awesome games that take a while to make and put a lot of effort into their programming. Thank you for taking the time to read this and i hope you consider me.
Some examples: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/johndo77/1268894 really great choices game
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/PacMan3/1273798 Dot Game by PacMan3- i tried to get this featured!
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/HelenWonky/1116484 awesome game based on the big bang theory!

I'd like to become a curator the projects I'd show are projects that, help people, things the maker worked hard on, and a project that I found that I really like I know it was short but I hope you'll consider me for a curator

i notice that you said you would curate games without many views, your first example, however, have over 100 views.
