Being a vegetarian is a healthy lifestyle, because it partly cleanses your body. However, not eating any kind of flesh is bad. Not eating meat is okay, but you should at least eat meat to get iron and proteins, and not to forget, omega 3.

You said you were doing it because you don't like animals being killed, and I'm not trying to discourage you, but even if you stop eating meat, animals will still be killed. It doesn't matter if less animals are killed, because over-hunting, clothing, and land reclamation make up for that by huge amounts.

It's not very nice to kill animals...

There is nothing wrong with it technically. If everyone was a vegetarian we would be to outnumbered to live.

And about saving animals cause your parents buy extra meat, what is that? 0.00001 percent of the world?

Yes, there's nothing wrong with eating meat. I just don't want to. I don't care if I'm making .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000    (x1000 more 0's)1 of a difference, I still am making a difference. There's  also nothing wrong with being vegetarian except that it's a little unhealthy, but even if I'm not doing anything wrong eating meat, I still feel bad for animals, so I'm not eating it

Sorry, if this sounds rude in words, I'm not trying to be...

I could never be a vegan. I would be giving up chicken pancetta, chocolate milkshakes, bacon omelets, grilled cheese... all of my favorite foods.

Animals were created for us to eat. Well, not at first, but later on. And they kill other animals for food. So why can't we eat them? It's called a food chain.

And no, I'm not vegetarian.

Wait, you're doing this so we don't kill more animals to put into markets and not for the health choices? So then eat fish. It doesn't make sense in your argument.

Please don't bring religion into this, they were created because they developed and evolved differently in different habitats and conditions, and they varied into the several million types of animals we have today.

Fish is an animal... maybe not to some people, but to me as long as it's alive and it can think or run/swim/slither, it's an animal .

Also, animals were not created so we could eat them. Originally, they were free and roaming around, but then humans captured most of them and started breeding them for food. It's not fair that they are "made for food" now or bred as pets, because we captured them so that they couldn't grow on their own, and started breeding them(basically, yes we are making them for food, but that's only because we captured them and didn't allow them to prosper.)

And on farms, you don't breed. If a cow has a baby, it's because they liked another cow.

(I live near them trust me)

O_O

I don't think thats the case at some cow farms, though. I'm pretty sure that at some places, they raise cows just to be killed for meat later. But, that usually isn't that case, anyway. I think.

The parentheses doesn't mean I see it happen.

I didn't bring religion into it. And if you tell me not to bring that into it, don't involve evolution. Either except it being in there or don't mention evolution because that is just plain hypocrisy.

Re: Is Anybody a Vegetarian?

ahh... okay... but the cows are trapped in a certain space where they are milked or something, and when they have a baby, the baby is taken away or there so they could take milk, if it is taken away it will probably be killed for meat depending on type of cow.

I've been to a farm, and they don't take the calves away; if you took the calves away, the mother would stop producing milk.

Certain species of animals were put on Earth to be eaten, so you really shouldn't be sorry for them even if they are living creatures. It's just the way life works.

Good point. Livestock are meant to be eaten.

They weren't originally put on the Earth to be eaten, we captured their parents so that we seem to own all the descendents of the parents and are able to do with them as we wish. It's not like the livestock has a choice whether it can be eaten or not, it's simply put into the Earth with a purpose, to serve humans. They are put on Earth to either be eaten by people, are used by them. I don't think it's fair that livestock has no choice to how it's future will turn out, they pretty much don't have a choice about anything...

The next argument might be "animals kind think"

maybe they can't think to the extent that humans can(I think that's because they don't know a language. When you think, you think with words, right? If you didn't think with words, you wouldn't get very far), but I think they can still feel, not only feel pain and touch, but feel sadness, happiness, excitement.

I just don't think it's fair that we don't give many animals freedom or the chance to live their lives. Everything is controlled

I believe it has been proven that animals do, in fact, have "feelings."
For example, sheep. They act a certain way when they're angry, when they're sad, excited, ect. Same with cats; don't they bend their ears a certain way or something?

But, this thread is supposed to be about Vegetarianism, so..

probably, but I know that every time I pet my dog, she's happy and moves her head under my hand to get petted more when I stop. However, if I'm next to her and I start petting my other dog, she will growl at me out of jealousy

Re: Is Anybody a Vegetarian?

I thought this was a topic about advice for living a vegetarian lifestyle, not a near-flame topic about the consumption of meat. Let's keep it friendly and stick with the original topic intent about maintaining a vegetarian lifestyle, okay?  smile

Naivia wrote:

After becoming a vegetarian, I'm not as hungry anymore... unless I'm eat something really good, I can't have very much of it. In fact, It's harder for me to eat even half the amount of food I used to be able to eat. Now, after I eat a little bit of food, I start feeling sick and can't finish it, I don't even feel full, I just can't finish it. Is this normal? I don't think it is... maybe it's really nothing... did this happen to anyone?

This can happen to anyone who begins to eat more of something than they usually do (which, in your case, is more vegetables). To add to that, vegetables aren't as easy to digest (especially if raw), which can also contribute to the sickness factor (if you're eating something that's difficult to digest, then you're going to feel rather sick).

My suggestion is to try finding vegetables that are easier to digest, so your body is less likely to feel sick after a few bites.  smile
