Very simple. There are 2 categories: Synth and Recorded.
Synth is where the music is generated by a synthesizer inside the machine. This is mostly for non-CD based 8 and 16-bit systems like the NES, SNES, Commodore 64, Genesis, Atari 800/400, etc. My pick for this category: http://www.scratch.mit.edu/ext/youtube/ … re=related Last Ninja 2 for C64, Level 1.
Recorded is where the music is recorded live from real instruments and made into MP3 and the like. Most CD and DVD systems use this, basically, from Playstation on. N64 doesn't count, that does use a MIDI synth. My pick: Dunno, need to think.
To clarify, I am asking what tune, what game, what category! BLAH.
DEBATE NOW!

Oh dear. I hope she also has something for BOTH categories. I hope this isn't just spammed with Recorded. I mean, you can't compare them, so I split them up.

Erm.. Elaborate more on the question. Are you asking which kind of music we think is better or what? Oh, nevermind- But it's gonna take me a minute (Or hour, or day..) to think of something.

Synth, I think. Unfortunatly, I cannot link a music file as the music is in OGG and MOD files. But I can link some remixes if you want.

It was made for a Wii yes, but it was given 8-Bit style and obviously not played by real instruments.

But is on DISC mind, thus not being played back by a synth in the machine. Sorry. BUT that does count for recorded! Sorry if this is confusing.

Way too many to pick just two...so here are just some great ones, I guess.
Synth
Gradius 3 - Fire Scramble
Journey to Silius - Stage 3 (amazing for the NES)
Recorded
1944 - Jungle Fight
Megaman X5 - Izzy Glow
Contra 4's entire soundtrack
Metroid Prime series (especially ingame)
