judging by the number of peoples we have here on scratch who play minecraft I think it would be pretty cool if someone made a server (private of course)
I'm guessing a good number of you are asking "why don't you make a server then?", my computer is pretty good if not really, really good, but that's mainly in the graphics section, servers require 3 parts on your computer to be good: processor, RAM, and internet connection, my computer has only an intel core 2 duo (2.66ghz) processor and 4gb of DDR2 RAM, this is good, but this isn't good enough for a server
a good, fast, and reliable server would be like this:
-intel i5 core (i7 prefered)
-8gb of DDR3 RAM (more is better)
-internet should be faster than normal
oh and for those of you wondering "why so powerful?":
-a better processor because your computer is running your game and then a portion of everyone else connected
-RAM is for containing server-side player data, the more RAM the more players
-internet should be obvious, a server is both transmitting and receiving info at probably quadruple the amount for a connected player
post your computer stats if you own a copy of minecraft alpha

Just so you know, I own it, Kinda, got it at the server shutdown. Anyways, My comp is the same as yours. I can run a classic Minecraft server without any problems though.

How do you play any of the online classic servers or just the classic game itself? It won't work for me; it just stays black.
Google it.

You don't need it that powerful. I can run an FSX server on a dual core with 1GB of RAM.
If I used a cable connection my networking card can run up to a 1Gbps. Thats over 1000Mbps. Which is crazy compaired to the wireless of only 54Mbps.
I actually don't have that game I hope you find someone to make a server.

Please host our server, map is in general section. Whitelist would be nice.

well you're correct, but we're talking about Minecraft, a game in alpha version, so the online play isn't quite optimized to maximize server capabilities, online play was actually released only a few weeks ago, 90% of all updates from the release of online play have been fixes for glitches, connection issues, making items work as expected, and fixes for anything else wrong, eventually Notch has said they are going to update it so that servers will run as they should
