Braces only hurt the first day or so, then every time they are adjusted. Just make sure you don't break anything, because angry dentists are not something you want to see.

They also hurt when the wire pokes into the back of your mouth. If it does, get them to bend it a bit.

I got mine in 5th grade
Yeah, they really hurt at first and you can eat barely anything, but after a few days it gets a lot better, just annoying (as everyone else has said).
Good luck!

thanks guys.
my plan is take panadol or something straight after i get them, so they atleast relieve the pain a little bit.
is it true they dig into your gums though?![]()
Unfortunately, yes, they sometimes do. In those cases, you should just get some wax from the orthodontist and rub it on your gums. It helps a lot

Sorry man D: Will you still be able to talk on xbox live?

They use drills
The drills go bzzzzzzzzzzzt while ripping apart your gum flesh, stabbing metal hooks in, and stuff
Actually, I don't know, I've never had them

No, they don't use drills. But they do use HORRIBLE tasting glue!

They don't hurt... They just pull at your teeth a lot, so for the first week or two, biting down on anything will cause immense pain, but it's not like stinging pain.
After that, the braces rip at the flesh in your mouth and you'll bleed occasionally until the skin around where the braces are turn unto scar tissue. And you'll get a ton of food stuck in there, especially sandwiches, stringy foods, and bananas.
Getting them on doesn't hurt at all, it's just after they're on. They just glue the brackets to your mouth and pull at them with the wires, which is pretty much painless. The only problem is that (at least with my orthodontist) your mouth gets really dried out during the process and then you can't feel your mouth when you go to rinse it out. And there's a ton of saliva that you can't stop from just hanging out and it's really gross. Other than that, actually getting them on is just your average dentist appointment.
Getting them off feels great, except your teeth feel almost slimy.

Haha. Maybe I'm going a little over the top, but it also cut my tongue in the same spot for the first few weeks. I'm not kidding, though. And I hated not being able to eat carrots for a year and a half... But I shouldn't be too sad because my sister had hers for about 5 years.

You can also get Penut Butter in there.

I'll have to get braces soon...OH THE HORROR!

My dentist said I might not need them, but you can only see my top row of teeth when I smile, I want that fixed. My smile sucks and everyones like, "Actually try!" and I'm like, "Uhh, I am."
Offline
Well, I think that showing the top row of your teeth looks natural! That how I smile.
Yeah, really. XD

I hardly ever smile, but when I do, it's with my mouth closed. Unless I'm laughing, then I have to open my mouth, or else I sound like a crying seal.
Er, yeah, braces. I have an appointment with my orthodontist this month, and I believe he will then decide whether or not I need braces (Though they've already said they are nearly positive I'm going to need to get them), and when I'm getting them.

I laugh like a hyena. Or a crazed, rabid cat.
And I'm proud.
