CONFIDENCE IS THE KEY.
No no, good standing and good character is the key.

It isn't the confidence - it's the qualities that would make you a good moderator.
But it's good to have some confidence, of course.

Well - maybe that just goes to show that we shouldn't be going about making our stew without the broth. Not that I have anything against this - but really, this whole thing happened without any intervention with the Scratch Team. Yeah, I thought we've all been jumping the gun too. The only reason I made a speech was because I didn't want to leave myself out in the cold because I waited too long to post one and people had already picked other candidates.
You know, I wouldn't worry about the votes at this point; remember, the Scratch Team still has to pick out their candidates first - just because a candidate is popular does not necessarily mean that they will be advocated by the current mods and that the Scratch Team will pick him/her.
That is very true, but if I did get picked as a candidate but my speech was out later, voters might be more familiar with the other candidates by then and less sure about voting for me.
You get what I mean?
Because if not, I'll try to elaborate a little more.

No, I get what you mean. Getting the speech out early allows voters to have a sneak peek at the candidates.
But I just think at this point candidates should be a little less focused on votes and more concerned about presenting a good image to the current moderators and Scratch Team if they really want the moderator position. No point is clamoring up votes if you're not picked.

That's all so true.
I'm definitely trying to keep my image up as best as I can to better my chances of being selected.

I really hope I get selected, but I guess it's not really the most important thing. The most important thing is for mods to be picked who will really help out the community

I have been on Scratch since 07', because a had a ghost account named 1234test, I think. I deleted it in 08' and forgot about Scratch. In 09' my dad reintroduced me. And right now, my reputation isn't that good. I'm on a quest to fix it, and if it fails, I'll make a new account.
Now, I was what many considered a "spamming, crazy, good-for-nothing,, goofy n00b" in my early days. I've matured, I know how to monitor forums, and I believe I can be a moderator. I wish for your vote for the following reasons:
I'm funny(I think, please say so.) I can be crazy, but i think I'd be a good mod. I'd weed out spam, ban flamefishers*, and I'd answer any question I know that I see. I promise to keep Scratch clean, flame- and spam-free. Anyone imitating anyone else will be banned, if seen appropriate. Even though I was not on very much*, I will be on as much as I can. I will help users and I will accept any tips from former or older mods.
Though my age is minimal, my computer skills make up for it. I have my own email, so I cat get reports, even if I am not on Scratch. I can type fast, so as to zap reports as fast and legible as possible. I am quick to scan, rescan, and look closely at many things. Any sever spam from those who know better will get deleted, and on my watch, they have 3 chances to correct themselves before they get at least an 8-hour ban.
However, those who know no better than spam, a.k.a "newbies", will get 6 chances. At the 6th chance, they will get at least a 6-hour ban. I let them have more leeway because they are new, and know no better.
Now, I know what your thinking, "She just wants an catchy title, and powers over other users, plus she's only nine. She isn't mature enough." But that's not true.
I am nine, but my dad trusted to an email address, right? And I believe the Moderators need fresh blood, someone who can look at it the way the offender, the victim, the bystanders, and those who try and stop the offender. Many moderators on look at two, maybe three positions: The bystanders, the victim, and the ones who try to stop the offender. I can look at many different angles. In the Art vs. Games war of 09, I was on the battlefield, but not fighting. I was neutral. I looked at it from the artists point of view, and the programmers point of view. The artists were famous - Doody, Maskedstar, and many others. The programmers weren't as much - Archmage and a few others. At the breaking point, the programmers had had enough of the artists stealing their fame. They attacked, and thus the war started. The artists didn't know what they had done to them. it died down early this year, but there is still tension. I would be a peacemaker for these wars - I would explain what it was all about.
Now that you have read this long and formal speech, please consider me!

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on which moderators decide to stay or move on.

There may or may not be a moderator to replace Lanie, but if the Scratch Team and moderator come to the decision for the moderator to leave the moderating team, there will definitely be somebody to replace them.

Hey, guys. I'm antimonyarsenide. Many of you probably know me, but a lot of you probably don't.
For those of you who don't know me, I guess this speech alone will decide whether or not I have your support. But for those of you who do know me, well, I guess you'll have a little more background knowledge.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
I joined Scratch in late 2009, when one of my friends used it for a science project. I immediately became interested, and made several [not so good] projects. However, I mostly just browsed through other people's projects and gave feedback. Pretty soon, I had a small but close circle of friends on the website.
As I continued making projects and looking at other people's projects, I noticed the uneven distribution of attention. I wondered why people always looked at the same Scratchers' projects, and I wondered if a lesser known Scratcher like me could ever get on the front page.
Well, this isn't a speech about running for curator, so I'll just skip over most of that part. Basically, I somehow made my way to the front page during the summer of 2010. Getting curated by KalinaStar really helped me get some attention. And then, a few weeks later, I decided to try a different method to try to get on the front page- advertising in the forums.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I made several threads for one of my projects, and basically stayed by those threads, bumping them every once in a while. Admittedly, it was probably a somewhat foolish thing to do, creating multiple threads. But that's not the point here. While keeping those threads in order, I somehow strayed into the miscellaneous forum, where I was met by a surprisingly large amount of respectable Scratchers. After that, I started spending more time on the forums, and eventually got to be known by other forumers.
During this time on the forums, I also noticed quite a few incidences where moderators played a very much needed role in maintaining order. I really respected the moderators, and wished I could help the Scratch community just like they did.
Unfortunately, the summer of 2010 soon ended, and school started. High school has been a big change for me, and I started spending less time on the forums, although I couldn't bring myself to really stop using them.
When election campaign time came, I didn't give it a second thought. Although I really enjoy helping fellow Scratchers, and wish I could be a mod, I felt that I didn't have enough free time, and I would only ruin another Scratcher's dream if I somehow got elected (which is unlikely) and didn't do anything.
However, recently, I started wondering if I really did have time after all. So I made a thread asking about how much time mods are supposed to spend modding, and the answers I got seemed to point me towards giving it a shot.
I know that I'm not entirely mature, and may often make mistakes. But if I'm elected, I promise to try my best to keep the forums a clean, safe, helpful, and happy place for everyone. Although I may not have much free time, I'll try my best. And I am very willing to learn.
So, I would appreciate it very much if you would consider voting antimonyarsenide for moderator.![]()
Thanks for reading

I will surely consider you
But please put it in your own thread.
