I probably won't get picked (and that isn't a cry for you to pick me) but choose someone who knows a thing or two about musical projects, of which there are not many extremely good ones. Or alternatively, you can pick me.

When applying to be curator, it's good to give some thought to the kind of projects you'd like to show. "Cool projects that most people have never seen!" is a nice idea, but it doesn't really give us a good sense of what you like and why. We want to know what makes a project interesting to you.
Try viewing the projects in your favorites, and see if you can find a theme that describes them. Talk about that theme in your post, and consider providing a few links to good examples of that theme.
For example, I really like projects that use sound input from the microphone to draw interesting designs on the screen. Here's an example of one that I recently added to my favorites: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/MitFan/874786
Let's not forget this, everyone!

Here's my new speech taking into account what Lightnin said:
I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to be a Scratch curator. As curator, I would look for projects that are kinda quirky and out of the ordinary, but still cool. I would mostly focus on games, but if I find a good animation or other type of project, I will curate it as well. I may take a couple recommendations for projects if I find them worthy, but for the most part, I’ll be deciding which projects I curate. I would leave each project on the front page for about 2 days, so all the projects I curate can get an adequate amount of views and comments, and equal time on the front page. I hope that you select me as a Scratch curator.
Sincerely,
gettysburg11

Easy now, no need for quite so many exclamation points.
As we've mentioned before, the best way to request to be curator is to first be a long time and helpful member of the community. For your speech, consider choosing a theme and show a few examples of the kinds of things you like. Although Zelda456 puts it a bit strongly, their point is more or less correct. Just say who you are and what you like.

This is my fourth try at curator. I have been searching deep down into the depths of the scratch community to try and find the undiscovered treasures of Scratch. Everyday, I would change the projects and curate one art/animation project, one game/simulation, and one surprise project. It would be a honor to be curator/archeologist for scratch. Thanks for reading my post, and Scratch On!
(PS: Sorry for copying my speech. I just couldn't think of a better way to put it )

Just reminding people:

Don't forget to say what types of projects you'd like to curate, and why you'd curate them!

I would love to become a curator! If you choose me of course. There are many better people out there though. I just joined not long ago. I like art and the warrior cats! Well, thats about it! Thanx for your time, and i hope you choose me!

I would like to be a curator. My main interest in scratch is animations and games. I also like art. If I became a curator, I would choose projects that not many people view, but it would deserve to be curated.

I think you need to have been on Scratch for a longer amount of time than you. I'm not 100% sure they let new Scratcher's become curators.

OrcaCat seems to have a lot of projects online already, which otherwise indicates that the user is more likely new to the forums but not necessarily new to the website.
I think if OrcaCat explained more to the Scratch Team about the project he/she wants to display on the front page, then he/she might have a good chance of being picked.
