In your case, I think it's more of a question if people think someone else is more qualified to be a moderator. Cleaning up spam, redirecting threads, and getting rid of commercial spammers is easy... dealing with flames and arguments are harder issues moderators have to put up with at times.
With some of the prospective candidates, I've seen some of the way they have replied and acted in tough situations which speak to their character, and use that as my way of defining who I think will be a good moderator. In you case, I haven't seen any negative behavior that indicates that you will be a bad moderator, but I feel that perhaps there are other candidates who are better qualified for the position.
