I think that Maus is short for Mauchwitz or something.

Re: Has anyone read Maus?

It means mouse in German. The Jews in the Holocaust were called maus by Nazis.

Re: Has anyone read Maus?

I read it for 7th grade summer reading. Both of them. They're pretty good.

TO EVERYONE WHO HASN'T READ IT:
The book is a graphic novel. Jews are portrayed as mice and Nazis are cats.

A lot of people are offended that Poles are portrayed as pigs.

That makes me want to read it more.
I'll read it, once I finish Great Expectations and Twilight.

I'd read Maus before Twilight anyday, but that might just be because I'm just not into romance... (Scott Pilgrim is an exception xD)

I'm not reading it by choice, kind of.
I told helltank I'd read it, so I will. I'm not into romance stories at all either o_O
I don't really have to, but my friend's have been trying to get me to read it too, anyway and I can't really say bad things about it (Or good things, for the matter  tongue ) until I read it, so yeah. Great Expectations is going to take me a while (Like a few months o_O), but after that I'll probably start Twilight. Probably.

The version I have is 450 pages. I've been reading it at a pretty slow pace, though.
